What is a Mechanical Seal?

Essentially, an end-face mechanical seal is a device used on a rotating shaft to prevent fluids from escaping and contaminants from getting into the system. Basically, it prevents fluids from leaking out of an asset, normally a centrifugal pump. Stuffing boxes or seal chambers house these seals. Pump shafts connect to motors (for example, an electric motor) at the drive area. more . . .

Seal Face Material Selection

The selection of the correct seal face materials is critical to the mechanical seal's performance. It might be said that the seal designer's material selection is the most crucial decision he or she will make. more . . .

Seal Selection

I. Service-based selections

When a customer requests a seal selection guide, he is most likely considering point solutions for his specific services, especially if his plant is small. As a result, particular services such as vacuum bottoms pumps, crude oil pipelines, propane pipelines, ethylene product pumps, cooling water pumps, and so on may be requested. Such service-based options are available in several application guidelines. For example, an API 682 Type-A De salter Effluent pump in a crude oil distillation plant with carbon/silicon carbide faces, peroxide cured per fluoroelastomer, Super Duplex metallurgy, and Plan 53A. more . . .

What is a Dry Gas Seal?

Dry gas seals consist of a mating (rotating) ring and a primary (stationary) ring that is non-contacting, dry-running mechanical face seals. When the spinning ring is in operation, the lifting geometry provides a fluid-dynamic lifting force, which causes the stationary ring to separate and create a gap between the two rings. Dry gas seals are mechanical seals that employ other substances and functions to keep a process clean. Oil exploration, extraction, and refining, petrochemical industries, gas transmission, and chemical processing are all common applications for these seals. more . . .

Gland Packing:

The space between two surfaces is sealed with a gasket, often known as an O-ring or washer. These products are typically constructed of rubber and come in a range of sizes and forms depending on their intended use.

The flat gasket is the most common form of the gasket. Its cross-section is shaped like a circle. Cylindrical gaskets come in sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 3 inches in diameter. The diameter of cylindrical gaskets is usually circular. The tubular gasket looks like a long tube with different diameters on each end. more . . .

Seal Support System

Seal Support Systems manage the fluid between and around the seal faces, whether it is cleaning, cooling, or heating the seal media or delivering a different fluid to the mechanical seal.

In some cases, for mechanical seals to function correctly the conditions in which they operate must be altered. This depends on the seal type, the duty conditions including environmental protections, and the type of equipment into which the seals are fitted. A simple change to a single seal's operating conditions in the dead ended arrangement can be made, for instant, by adding a recirculation line from the pump discharge to the seal chamber. As operational demands increase, so to must the capabilities of the supply units to support the mechanical seals.more . . .

API PLAN 53A

A seal support system allows pressurised barrier fluid circulation in the outboard seal of a dual seal design. Circulation is maintained by using a pumping ring when running and a thermosyphon effect when not running.

FEATURES:

Anti-friction properties, Chemical resistance, Temperature resistance, Compressibility and resilience, Retention of lubricants, non-corrosive, wear-resistant.more . . .

What Is A Cartridge Seal?

Seals break prematurely due to a variety of factors, including untrained operators and installation problems. Cartridge seals were created to assist operators in overcoming the fitting and installation issues associated with traditional seals. Cartridge seals are complete components that include a shaft sleeve, seal, and gland plate. The cartridge seal's design eliminates frequent reasons of seal failure from installation errors, and because the seal is provided on its own shaft sleeve, any harm to the pump unit caused by a traditional seal is eliminated. more . . .

O - Rings

O-rings (also known as packing joints) are gaskets that are donut-shaped and can be employed in static or dynamic applications. O-rings are one of the most frequent seals used in machinery around the world because they are simple to make, affordable, and dependable. more . . .

Pump shaft seal

Shaft seals keep fluids from leaking out of a spinning or reciprocating shaft. This is critical for all pumps, and for centrifugal pumps, numerous sealing solutions will be available, including packing, lip seals, and all sorts of mechanical seals – single, double, and tandem, including cartridge seals. Rotary positive displacement pumps, such as gear pumps and vane pumps, are available with packing, lip seals, and mechanical seals. Reciprocating pumps have unique sealing challenges and typically rely on lip seals or packing. Magnetic drive pumps, diaphragm pumps, and peristaltic pumps, for example, do not require shaft seals. These 'seal-less' pumps contain stationary seals to prevent liquid leakage. more . . .
